Kingsolver）可能是当代美国文学最特殊的一个声音。她出身肯塔基州乡间，大学主修生物，后来专攻生态学，拿到科学硕士，期间曾旅居法国和希腊，当过考古学家、校稿员、X光技术人员、清洁工、生物研究员和科技文件翻译。求学期间，她修习写作课程，并担任校刊科学作者，后来逐渐在各大媒体发表文章。离开学校后，金索佛白天担任记者，晚上在家写作。 |
