Acclaimed author-illustrator Kevin Henkes delivers a
pitch-perfect picture book for young children, starring an
imaginative protagonist. A little girl helps her mother in the
garden. She waters and weeds and keeps the rabbits out of the
lettuce. But she can’t help but think what her very own garden
would be like. She envisions flowers with petals of fantastical
patterns, chocolate rabbits, and bushes blooming with jelly beans.
She wishes for butterflies all around, and keys and umbrellas
growing in place of carrots. The little girl’s imaginings are
rendered in illustrations filled with color and bold lines, with
lots of detail but also a simplicity just right for very young
readers and listeners. What grows in your dreams?
