Paper is one of the most important inventions in the world. It is cheap, light and easy to carry, which facilitates peoples reading and writing, and can promote the popularization of education. However, tons of thousands of trees are cut down every year for papermaking, and numerous tons of paper is wasted because of peoples careless usage. All of this further aggravates soil erosion and environment deterioration.
Nowadays, driven by the awareness of environment protection and technological development, economizing paper is advocated among the public. Some institutions and companies begin to call for paperless office. That is, using emails or electronic documents for internal communication. Besides, an increasing number of people prefer reading books, magazines or news on electronic devices such as mobile phone, kindle, iPad, etc. This will further promote the development of paperless society.
However, given the longexisted paper using habits of most people, it seems impossible to build a entirely paperless world in the near future. But I am quite sure that paperless life will become more popular as time goes by.
