本套书以“科普图画书”的形式，详尽地介绍中国古代在科学发现、技术发明、工程建设等方面的成就，共分为两辑。如果说第一辑的“四大发明”是比较独立具体地介绍某一项技术发明，那么第二辑则是比较全面系统地介绍了我国古代在某一技术领域的技术成果，主要包括纺织术、农耕术、营造术和制瓷术。瓷器是中华文明的象征，中国制瓷技术是古代先民在制陶技术基础上逐渐发展而形成的，是我国古代的伟大发明之一。本书简要地介绍了从陶器到瓷器的演变过程，重点从瓷石开采、坯料制作、泥坯成型、晾坯晒坯、制釉施釉、泥坯烧制等方面，系统地介绍了中国古代精湛的制瓷工艺，同时也比较充分地展现了中国古代各个时期瓷器的特色与风采。In the form of a “popular science picture book”， this set of books introduces in detail ancient China’s achievements in scientific discoveries， technological inventions， and engineering constructions.
