The purpose of the book is to serve as a training book for trainees of Addis Ababa - Djibouti Railway. In the process of compiling this textbook， firstly， the electric locomotive driver and the electric locomotive maintenance post are analyzed. The professional core competencies required by electric locomotive drivers and electric locomotive maintenance are summarized. Thus， the knowledge and ability needed to cultivate the core competence of electric locomotive specialty are determined. According to these knowledge and ability requirements， the teaching content was selected through professional ability analysis with front-line locomotive production personnel. The teaching content includes the ability requirements and standards for the operation， maintenance， test and emergency solutions of electrical system.
